In the golden autumn of 2009, four exhibitions were staged successively in Yiwu, Zhejiang province, including the World Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention(WOCEC), International Commodities Fair, International Forest Products Fair and International Tourism Commodities Fair.

WOCEC creates a green channel for global buying and selling

620overseas Chinese businessmen from 60 countries and regions gathered in Yiwu during October 19-20. The 1st World Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention built a green channel for Yiwu products to go out and overseas products to come in. "Yiwu is a charming city. Honest entrepreneurs and hard-working, brave Yiwu people worked together and created the miracle of Yiwu market," said Qiu Aihua, president of European Chinese Women's General Association and French Overseas Chinese Women's Federation. Taking advantage of their various relations, all overseas Chinese businessmen are on the way to boost the development of Yiwu market.

Yiwu Fair: the vane of world commodities trade

Based on Yiwu commodities market, Yiwu held the first Yiwu Fair in 1995, which was the first exhibition held in a market. While the World Overseas Entrepreneurs Convention built a bridge for global buying and selling, the 15th China Yiwu International Commodities Fair held from October 21 to 25 served as a wind vane for world commodities trade.
As the leading fair in Yiwu, the scale of Yiwu Fair was enlarged this year in spite of the adverse general situation and the fair became an occasion to witness the recovery of global commodities consumption. In addition, statistics from the survey by China Conference & Exposition Research Center show that the overseas trade opportunity index of the 15th Yiwu Fair has risen to two thirds of Guangzhou Fair. A lot of exhibitors and purchasers regard Yiwu Fair as a platform for intermediary trade. With an increase of 140%, the 108 booths in the international hall gathered 78 exhibitors from 27 countries and regions like America, Britain, Spain, South Korea and Japan. The turnover of foreign trade reached 1.017 billion dollars, which is 61.7% of the total turnover of the fair.

Yiwu International Forest Products Fair builds a bridge for forestry investment

Following the World Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention and Yiwu Fair, Yiwu International Forest Products Fair was held from October 31 to November 3. With the theme of "Forest Products, Healthy and Fashionable", the fair set up 1,800 international standard exhibition booths, covering an exhibition area of 45 thousand square meters, attracting more than 1,000 enterprises from 28 countries (regions) and 21 provinces of China. The products exhibited included 6 categories such as forest food, bamboo and wood commodities.

In the sign ceremony of forestry investment cooperation projects, the fair acted as a bridge for forestry investment cooperation. Agreements of 23 cooperation projects were signed on the spot, involving bamboo & wood products, bamboo charcoal products, bamboo man-made boards, and bamboo furniture, with a total value of 811.7 million yuan.

Tourism Commodities Fair attracts investment successfully

The 1st China International Tourism Commodities Fair was held from November 12 to 15. With the new concept of "general tourism products", the 1st tourism commodities fair showed various kinds of tourism products.

According to rough estimates, the total turnover reached 236.1 million yuan in the 4 days, 36.5% of which was foreign trade. More than 100 thousand people visited the fair, including 5,160 overseas purchasers from 80countries (regions).

As a new engine for the economic development of Yiwu, exhibitions will turn a new page in the economic development of the city.
